On August 24, 2012, the Narconon Freedom Center in Albion, Michigan held a ceremony to officially open their new women's wing. Several hundred guests attended this ribbon cutting and celebration of Freedom Center's expansion. Guests included local community leaders, parents and students of Narconon Freedom Center, as well as executives and staff from that center, Narconon East US and Narconon International. There were even some surprise guests in attendance from Narconon Melbourne (Australia).
All were very happy to acknowledge and congratulate Narconon Freedom Center for its expansion and its effective drug education efforts. This center has been conducting drug education in local schools as well as in a community outreach center located right on Main Street in Albion.
In Tijuana, Mexico, the first Narconon center that was developed from a Twelve Step rehab program opened its doors. This program is called Narconon Tijuana Casa del Reencuentro (House to Find Yourself Again), and is directed by Padre Jaime Lares. This center is located in the southwest corner of Tijuana.
At their opening ceremony recently, 150 guests were in attendance. The guests included local dignitaries, Narconon students and parents, friends from around the U.S. and Mexico, as well as staff from Narconon International.
A blessing was given for the staff and the facilities by Monsignor Cisneros, a representative of Tijuana Archbishop Rafael Romo Munoz and a personal friend of Padre Lares.
Padre Lares had formerly been operating a residential Twelve Step rehab program in more modest facilities. He said, "I was interested in Narconon because it is drug-free and has an impressive life skills educational component."
Further Padre Lares added, "After we applied for a Narconon license, they helped us step by step to train our technical and administrative staff. We feel we have become an important part of an international team."
