International Enrollments Increasing at English Narconon Center
Even from beyond the British Commonwealth, more citizens from around the globe are applying to Narconon Hastings, seeking its unique methods to get clean from drugs and alcohol, say staff.
Hastings, England News: Even from beyond the British Commonwealth, more citizens from around the globe are applying to Narconon Hastings, seeking its unique methods to get clean from drugs and alcohol, say staff.
Narconon Hastings on the southeast coast of England has persons enrolled currently from Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Maldives Islands, and India (not counting those from the British isles). Staff and students report this increasing international trend may be for two reasons -- Narconon's 75% long-term success rate for graduates and the lack of effective treatment in many other countries.
"Why our students apply to an English centre rather than to the 20 other countries where Narconon rehab may be found is because England is still on the crossroads of world communication lines," offers Alison Withie, senior intake counselor, herself English and a Narconon graduate. "When I did my programme," she adds, "there wasn't a centre in England, so I had to go to Holland, outside Amsterdam. But Narconon is Narconon, and they did well by me." Seems so, as Alison went on to join staff and later helped open first an out-patient centre in London and then in 2005 the prestigious Narconon Hastings.
The centre does look British, housed in a four story Tudor mansion (and former school) near the famous battlefield where William the Conqueror put down Norman roots in English soil. A few minutes walk from the English Channel, Narconon Hastings can deliver to 40 or more students. "We call them 'students'," says Alison, "because our programme is like going back to school, real school this time, where one learns the life skills not only necessary to get free from drugs and their insanity, but also vital for living a successful and happy life."
The Narconon programme is based on the research and works of author and humanitarian, L. Ron Hubbard. It was founded by a heroin addict named William Benitez in Arizona State Prison in 1966, after he discovered Hubbard's raising-abilities approach to solving problems.
That Narconon is a drug-free model also attracts applicants. Graduate Michelle Davies says, "Before coming to Narconon, I was at a drug rehab facility for heroin addiction. Like almost everywhere else than here, I was given a substitute drug, methadone - which was not only unsuccessful in helping me, but contributed to the deterioration of my body." Looking well and healthy today, Michelle continues, "But Narconon is a drug free programme that uses vitamins, minerals, and sauna detoxification to remove drug residues from the body."
The sauna detox programme is done after the addict has withdrawn from drugs. After receiving okay from a medical doctor to do the exercise and sweating programme, the addict takes a regimen of vitamins and minerals daily and spends repeated periods sweating out toxins, along with plenty of cooling off and drinking fluids. Many studies have been done of the healthfulness and efficacy of this procedure to reduce the body burden of toxins well beyond drugs. Published papers on this procedure can be found at www.detoxacademy.org.
"Narconon cleans your body," says Michelle, "and mind, too. It is a life changing opportunity. Narconon changed my life. In fact, they saved it."
The Narconon programme averages between four and six months, staff report. Not a short time, but seemingly worth long distance travel considering the benefits.
