The Narconon center in Battle Creek celebrates the grand opening of its second residential facility, a 120-bed rehab in Albion.
Albion, MI -- With the help of Priscilla Presley, Narconon Stone Hawk East celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, June 3rd, 2006.
"I'm not alone here. Many people have had this problem, and I feel that something has to be done about it," said Priscilla at the grand opening, as she spoke of families with loved ones who have fallen into the trap of drugs.
Stone Hawk East is the second Narconon® treatment center in Michigan. The first center, Narconon Stone Hawk in Battle Creek, was founded by Per Wickstrom, President, and business partner Kate Wickstrom, Executive Director. Since its opening in February 2003, the 100-bed facility in Battle Creek center has graduated more than 600 people through the drug-free program. It has been operating at capacity for some time, thus the need for a second facility to expand to meet the demand.
According to Clark Carr, President of Narconon International, it is expected that the Albion facility will help approximately 400 people a year turn their lives around so that they can live a drug-free and ethical life.
Site of the former Trillium Hospital, the Albion center will have over 100 employees once the final renovations are complete. William Wheaton, Mayor of Albion, welcomed Narconon Stone Hawk East, stating his appreciation that the building that for so long housed their local hospital is once again being utilized to assist individuals with health-related issues.
As part of its program, the center incorporates the unique sauna sweat-out program based on the works of writer and humanitarian L. Ron Hubbard. This year, Narconon celebrates its 40th anniversary, having been founded by William Benitez in the Arizona State Prison in 1966. Narconon now has drug prevention, education and rehab centers in over 40 countries.
