Drug Rehab Graduate Reunion at Gulf Coast center in Florida

Gulf Coast, Florida, drug rehab facilityOn the weekend of October 28, 2006, Narconon Gulf Coast drug rehab held its first reunion, attended by some 75 people--graduates and their friends and family, staff, and current students--and hosted by founders Randy and Debbie Ross. Debbie explained how her son's drug problem had been handled through the Narconon® program and how that inspired her and Randy to start their own center in February, 2004.

Yvonne Rodgers, Executive Director of Narconon East U.S., presented Debbie and Randy with a plaque of recognition, and read a story she had written about Narconon Gulf Coast. "Once upon a time there was a man with a great heart and a woman of kindness who opened their home on the crystal shores to help others. ..."

Debbie and Randy in turn recognized members of the staff as well as the attending graduates of the program, including Dale, their very first drug rehab graduate.

Bobby Wiggins, Narconon International's top Drug Prevention Specialist, enlightened the attendees with a drug education presentation.

Some comments heard from the students: "...that was so much fun! I can't believe that I was not drinking and still had fun!" "This is the first dance I ever went to that I was not using!" "It was fun! I felt free to sing and dance!"

Following are excerpts from a recent graduate of the drug rehab program at Gulf Coast:

"After completing the Narconon course [program] I have realized that my life is worth living. ... For years I have not been comfortable in my own skin and I have not been comfortable being around others. Once you are okay sitting for an extended period of time and realize that you are functioning around others is the first step to recovery. Going through the sauna was very beneficial for my body and spirit. ... [I learned] to distinguish the type of people we should be and be around. ... Objectives [exercises orienting one to their present time surroundings] brought me peace and happiness with myself and my surroundings. Objectives were the turning point for me, and as I continued through them, I became brighter and really was able to look at my life and figure out what I need to do to fix relationships. ... Most importantly, I have learned I need to give in order to receive. I need to be content with myself and give more to myself, family, and the people around me than they are giving. I will do more for myself in order to be happy, drug-free and always moving forward and being productive."
